When an order arrives, Huup reserves the units it needs. Those units stay on hand but leave available, so no other channel can promise them. That reservation is an allocation.
The lifecycle
- Order ingested — Huup allocates the required quantity from the fulfilling warehouse.
- Available drops — the new available figure is pushed to every connected channel.
- Order dispatched — allocation is consumed and on-hand falls by the same amount.
- Order cancelled — allocation is released and available rises again.
Why available fell without a sale
- An order arrived on another channel and reserved the units.
- A pre-payment or pending order is holding stock before it is confirmed.
- An old order was never completed or cancelled, so its allocation is still live.
Stale allocations are the usual culprit. An order that is neither dispatched nor cancelled holds its stock indefinitely. If available looks wrong, filter orders by age and close out anything abandoned.
Multi-warehouse allocation
With more than one warehouse, Huup allocates from the location chosen by your routing rules. Available stock published to a channel is the total across the locations that channel is allowed to sell from — so restricting a warehouse from a channel lowers what that channel can promise.
