Automotive

Vehicle fitment, part references and equivalents — the machinery that makes a parts catalogue sellable.

Why fitment is the bottleneck

A part without fitment data is a part nobody can safely buy. Building those vehicle lists by hand is the slowest step in listing a parts catalogue, so Huup attaches them from a vehicle database instead of asking you to assemble them per SKU.

References

  • OEM references — the manufacturer's own part numbers, the most reliable route into fitment.
  • Aftermarket references — supplier and brand numbers for the same part.
  • Equivalents — parts that interchange. Searching by one reference surfaces vehicles covered by the others.

Attaching compatibility

  1. Open the product's compatibility tab.
  2. Search by vehicle or by reference number.
  3. Review the matched vehicles and remove anything that does not apply to your variant.
  4. Save — fitment lives on the product, so every channel listing built on it inherits the same list.
Over-matching is the risk, not under-matching. Engine size, body style and build date ranges are where equivalents pull in vehicles that do not actually fit. Sample-check before publishing a batch: a wrong fitment costs a return and a defect.

Exporting to eBay Motors

Stored fitment publishes in eBay Motors' compatibility format for the UK and US sites. Updating compatibility republishes it — the list is maintained once, not per listing.
